From Russia to Singapore
A journey shaped by travel, craftsmanship, friendship, and a growing appreciation for objects that carry history.
Gorodets, Russia
The story began when Nastya and Wan travelled to Gorodets, known as the City of Masters. There, they were introduced to local craftspeople and discovered workshops preserving traditional Slavic decorative arts, handmade garments, and regional craft techniques.
The visit left a lasting impression and introduced them to the people behind these cultural objects.
Suzdal, Russia
During a visit to Suzdal for the annual Cucumber Festival, Nastya and Wan met a travelling craftswoman named Daria, who was selling premium traditional costumes.
Her clothing stood out for its quality, detail, and connection to traditional design. This encounter helped shape their appreciation for authentic Slavic garments produced by independent makers.
A New Chapter
Nastya and Wan moved to Singapore for work. Although they were now far from Russia, their interest in Slavic crafts and cultural history continued.
They remained in contact with craftspeople and small workshops across Russia and Ukraine.
The Beginning of the Brand
Wan discovered the upcoming Renfaire festival in Singapore and saw an opportunity to introduce authentic Slavic medieval-inspired clothing to a new audience.
Together, Nastya and Wan began contacting trusted makers and craftspeople in Russia and Ukraine, sourcing garments from small workshops similar to those they had first encountered during their travels.
The First Booth
The garments arrived just in time for the festival. On 31 January 2026, Nastya and Wan opened the first Mokosh Threads booth.
Alongside the traditional clothing, Wan displayed part of his personal collection of Soviet mechanical watches and vintage film cameras. Visitors responded warmly, and the watches and cameras quickly became an unexpected highlight of the event.
A Growing Collection
Following the festival, Mokosh Threads expanded beyond clothing to include vintage Soviet watches, film cameras, crafts, and other carefully selected objects.
The brand has since participated in additional events and continues to sell through Carousell and online. The collection will continue to grow slowly and thoughtfully, guided by authenticity, craftsmanship, and stories worth preserving.

A Husband-and-Wife Team
We are a husband-and-wife team managing a small home business in Singapore, curating Slavic, Soviet, Russian, and Eastern European products that reflect history, craftsmanship, and personal stories.
Founder & Curator
Wan manages the vintage watch and film camera collections, website, events, photography, and day-to-day operations of Mokosh Threads.
Co-Founder & Cultural Guide
Nastya supports sourcing, communication with makers, cultural context, clothing selection, and the preservation of authentic Slavic traditions.
